Hello {{First name | there}},

Getting found locally isn’t just about being listed on Google — it’s about being listed consistently everywhere.

Here's what we’ve covered:

If you’ve missed earlier mini-courses, here’s where to catch up:

This week, we’re tackling one of the easiest ways to build trust with Google and your customers: fixing your NAP.

A quick story

I once talked with a business owner who was taking a large banner to trade shows. Printed on the banner was a vanity 800 number.

I asked why the number didn’t match the one on their website. Their answer:

“We’re paying for the vanity number, so we figured it looked more professional.”

That question led them to test the line — and they discovered it didn’t even ring through to their phones. They had been dragging this banner to events for years, advertising a number that never connected to their business.

Don’t make this mistake.

Why it matters

  • Trust starts with consistency: If your numbers don’t match, customers won’t chase you down.

  • Google uses citations: Directories, social profiles, and local listings all feed into Google’s “confidence score” for your business.

  • Small errors, big problems: Even one incorrect number can mean lost customers and lower rankings.

This week’s action

Audit your business info and clean up inconsistencies.

  1. Search your business name + phone number. See what comes up.

  2. Check every place your contact info is listed: your website, social media, directories, chamber of commerce, even offline banners.

  3. Make sure your Name, Address, and Phone (NAP) are accurate, consistent, and actually connect to your business.

This simple step prevents costly mistakes and builds a stronger foundation for your local SEO.

Key takeaway

Local SEO is about trust. If Google and your customers see different versions of your business online — or worse, call a number that doesn’t work — they lose confidence. Keep your Name, Address, and Phone consistent everywhere, and you’ll earn higher visibility.
